Types of friction

Distinction of types of friction according to the movement type.

  • Sliding friction is the movement resistance between bodies whose speed is different in the contact area in terms of amount and/or direction.
  • Rolling friction is the resistance occurring in the case of the rolling movement of cylindrical or spherical bodies. In doing so, the point at which the force is applied moves as a result of the deformation of the underlayer and rolling body and creates torque.
  • Rolling & sliding friction is rolling friction with an overlaid sliding component (slip).
  • Spinning friction is the dynamic friction with relative rotation around an axis turning perpendicular to the contact area.
