Stretch-loading of seals

Stress, which occurs where the moved surface runs together with the sealing lip i.e. the frictional force on the bottom side of the seal acts opposite to the compressive force on the seal (Figure Z 6).
 
The stress on the sealing lip is lower than in the case of squeeze stress (cf. corresponding figure).
