For speed measurement analogue or digitalmeasuring procedures are used. Analogue tacho generators or rotary encoders are not particularly suitable for low rotation speeds due to their low signal level.
On digital systems a gearwheel generates pulses in a coil and these pulses are counted (Figure D 40). They can operate as accurately as necessary via the number of teeth and are very economical.
