Protective filters are intended to protect the hydraulic devices against coarse contamination. They are installed upstream of devices sensitive to contamination in hydraulic circuits or in the control oil supply of pilot stages. Protective filters do not clean the pressure fluid and therefore their filter unit (β-value) should be more coarse than cleaning filters.
