Macromolecular materials whose molecules are made up of simple, repeated molecular units (blocks). Their number determines the level of polymerisation. The materials used in fluid technology in terms of elastic materials for seals such as rubber, thermoplastic elastomers and thermoplastics are in fact polymer materials.
