On-stroke time of a pump

Time that a variable pump requires to adjust from zero to max. delivery flow (regulated). It depends on the adjustment mechanism, the pilot pressure and the adjustment travel, and also on the mass that is to be moved during the adjustment process. axial piston pumps of swash plate design, vane pumps and radial piston pumps generally provide good adjustment characteristics. The axial piston pump of inclined axis design has the largest mass to move.
