There are essentially three ways to recovery energy used: Utilisation of kinetic energy between moving masses by using hydraulic motors with secondary regulation. The energy recovered is collected in a hydraulic accumulator (on electrical drives is returned to the electrical system, on mechanical drives the flywheel is accelerated (Figure E 28 a); example: vehicle drive).
Utilisation of the potential energy of lowering masses via hydraulic motors with secondary regulation (b); example: crane.
Utilisation of dissipated heat via heat exchangers.
