Digital measuring procedure

Procedure in which the measured variable is assigned to an output variable that is a numeric representation of the measured variable quantised using pre-defined minimum step (according to DIN 1319).

Many digital measuring procedures operate on the input to the measuring chain in a similar manner to a digitising device. In general it not possible to completely return the signal to an analogue output signal, however the output can be in the form of an indication on a scale.
