In agricultural machinery, many types of machines benefit from intelligent hydraulics.

October 20, 2025, Munich, Germany. Increasing digitalization in industry and vehicle manufacturing has also raised the demands placed on hydraulic systems. Electronically controlled hydraulic valves and pumps combine the proven power transmission and power density of hydraulics with precise control, connectivity, and intelligent data processing.

The advantages are obvious:

  • Greater precision and dynamics: Proportional valves with digital control enable precise regulation of pressure, flow, and position – even during highly dynamic movements.
  • Integration into digital networks: Bus-compatible interfaces allow valves to be integrated directly into control and automation systems.
  • Energy efficiency and sustainability: Demand-based control reduces energy losses and contributes to more sustainable machines.
  • Predictive maintenance: Built-in sensors enable continuous monitoring of operating parameters, allowing wear and malfunctions to be detected at an early stage.

HAWE Hydraulik offers an electronics kit optimized for the respective application, which fits seamlessly into the hydraulic series and complements them. The EMMA proportional plug is particularly flexible. It is simply plugged onto the valve and monitors the spool position in directly controlled valves without the need for additional sensors. The PSL type with onboard CAN bus is ideal for machine manufacturers who want to save time and effort in series production and are looking for comprehensive monitoring during operation, as it can be connected with just a single cable. With VIPR, HAWE goes one step further and, in addition to electronic control, also integrates onboard sensors and self-learning algorithms into a control valve with separate control edges. Depending on the range of functions, HAWE directional control valves can be combined in a single valve assembly, section by section, with or without intelligence, exactly as required by the functional diversity of the machines. The appropriate pump technology is available as variable displacement pumps, constant displacement pumps, or as motor-pump units with inverters, control electronics, and application-optimized software for electrified vehicles.

"Smart Hydraulics combines the strengths of classic hydraulics – robustness and high power density – with the advantages of automation and digitalization", explains Marcus Hofmann, Product Manager, HAWE Hydraulik. "This enables us to create the basis for future-proof machine concepts in automated mobile applications, electrified vehicles, and industrial automation."

HAWE Hydraulik will be presenting smart hydraulics at Agritechnica in Hanover from November 9 to 15, 2025, at booth 16C11.
