Fixture which changes the flow rate of a variable pump in such a way that is becomes ever smaller as the pressure increases (e.g. up to around 5% of Q max). The pressure at which adjustment starts is determined by the preload for the adjustment spring (Figure N 8).
The pressure regulator (zero-stroke regulator) is mainly used to maintain pressure levels when power consumption is low (see also pressure-flow control).
